A Message from our Pastor Dear Neighbor: I want to invite you to visit a place of welcome and spiritual growth, a wonderful church home here in Versailles. I have had the pleasure of serving this congregation as its pastor for the last couple of years, and have found it to be one of the warmest churches I know. Here are some of my observations about Versailles Presbyterian Church. • We are an accepting and caring church. Members are welcoming to newcomers as well as to those who have been here a long time. We have many opportunities to get to know each other, from supper clubs to Wednesday night programs to Sunday morning classes (four different classes are available for adults). • Our church welcomes people of all ages, ethnicities, families, single or married adults, children and youth. The church is so committed to its young people and education program that we have a full-time Director of Christian Education and Youth Ministry and a part-time Director of Children’s Ministry. • We honor the past and look forward to the future. While cherishing our heritage, we are open to a broad spectrum of theological beliefs. We don’t have all the answers, but we enjoy exploring the questions together. • Worship is at the heart of our congregational life. It is a time for us to center our lives on God and offer praise and thanksgiving for all that God has done for us. Worship is a time of renewal and recommitment, a place for us to refocus ourselves so that we can live faithful Christian lives in the world. • We are actively involved in service both in Woodford County and elsewhere. We participate actively in the local food pantry, clothes closet, Repair Affair and other efforts, and we send youth and adults on mission trips both in the U.S. and Mexico. In addition, we are fully aware that all our members and friends are involved in doing God’s work wherever they are. Whether you are new to the community or a long time resident, if you do not have a church home and are looking for one we invite you to visit with us. We have two worship services each Sunday. The 8:30 service is a bit shorter and less formal. The 11:00 service lasts about an hour. Sunday school classes for all ages are at 9:45. We look forward to seeing you soon. Please call me if you have any questions or if I can be of service to you. -Melissa |
